Jacob Banks is a British singer-songwriter from Birmingham who has earned acclaim for his commanding baritone voice and a genre-bending sound that incorporates elements of soul, R&B, and hip-hop. He first emerged on the music scene in 2012, quickly making a name for himself by winning the MOBO UnSung regional competition in his hometown. That same year, he secured a victory in the Adidas "Are You In" music competition, further establishing his potential as a rising star in the UK music industry.

Banks achieved a significant industry milestone when he became the first unsigned artist ever to appear on the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. This performance helped propel his career forward, leading to a high-profile support slot for Emeli Sandé during her April 2013 UK tour. His ability to bridge the gap between soulful storytelling and contemporary production has made him a sought-after collaborator. Over the years, he has worked with a wide range of prominent artists and producers, including Chase & Status, Bondax, Jake Gosling, Knox Brown, Plan B, and Wretch 32.

Following the independent success of his early work, Banks attracted major label interest. In September 2016, he officially signed with Interscope Records. His music is characterized by its emotional resonance and a modern aesthetic that remains deeply rooted in the traditions of soul music. Since his signing, he has continued to build a global following, known for his powerful live performances and evocative songwriting that explores themes of identity and human experience.
