Есть группы, от одного упоминания которых сердце может начать биться чаще. Обычно такие коллективы воспринимаются как что-то сакральное и максимально приближающееся к идиллическим формам. И можно с уверенностью сказать, что THE GATHERING - одна из таких групп.За три десятка лет эти скромные голландские гении уже прочно вошли в состав элиты даже не столько среди исполнителей тяжелой музыки, сколько среди европейской сцены вообще. THEGATHERING успели "отметиться" в числе родоначальников дум-дэта и стали . одной из первых тяжелых групп, сделавших ставку на женский вокал - и ставку беспроигрышную. Они несколько раз меняли стиль и каждый раз раскрывались с новой силой. А последние на данный момент их студийные альбомы, Disclosure и Afterwords, вообще можно считать одними из самых утонченных записей прошедшего десятилетия.Единственное выступление THE GATHERING в России было настолько давно, что уже обросло легендами. А с учетом того, что несколько лет назад группа уходила в творческий отпуск и сейчас ее активность носит эпизодический характер, готовящиеся концерты можно назвать не просто долгожданными, а эпохальными и исключительными. Вряд ли будет преувеличением сказать, что мы ждали приезда THE GATHERING слишком долго, и даже не верится, что он произойдет уже совсем скоро.

There are several bands called The Gathering:
1. The Gathering is a gothic metal / progressive rock / alternative rock band formed in Oss, the Netherlands, in 1989. They announced a hiatus in 2014. The current line-up consists of Silje Wergeland (lead vocals), René Rutten (guitars and flute), Frank Boeijen (keyboards), and Hans Rutten (drums). The band had some line-up changes during the years, the most notable being Silje Wergeland replacing in 2009 the former singer Anneke van Giersbergen (who was a member from 1994 to 2007).
