Kameron Marlowe is an American country music singer-songwriter known for his gritty vocals and traditional-meets-modern sound. Originally from Kannapolis, North Carolina, Marlowe rose to national prominence as a contestant on NBC's The Voice before establishing himself as a rising star in the Nashville music scene with his breakout hit "Giving You Up."
Early Life and Musical Roots
Marlowe’s connection to country music began during his childhood in North Carolina, influenced heavily by his grandfather. The two spent time hunting and fishing together, always with country radio playing in the background. Marlowe began singing in church at the age of 10 and eventually grew into the role of a worship leader. During his time at A.L. Brown High School, he joined a band and performed at various local venues before graduating in 2015.
In 2017, Marlowe faced a personal turning point when his mother was diagnosed with a degenerative disc injury. To help support his family, he dropped out of college and took a job as an auto parts salesman for General Motors while continuing to play music locally in his spare time.
National Exposure on The Voice
Marlowe’s professional break came when a talent recruiter for The Voice discovered his live performance videos on YouTube. This led to a fast-track audition for the show's 15th season in 2018. During the Blind Auditions, he joined Blake Shelton’s team and was later "stolen" by coach Adam Levine. Though he was eliminated during the Live Playoffs in the Top 24, the experience provided the momentum he needed to move to Nashville and pursue a career as a professional songwriter.
Independent Success and Major Label Signing
In June 2019, Marlowe independently released his debut single, "Giving You Up." The song became a viral success, amassing over 15 million on-demand streams within its first year. This independent traction caught the attention of the industry, leading to a management deal with AMG and a songwriting contract with Sony/ATV Music Publishing in early 2020.
Columbia Nashville and RIAA Certification
On June 26, 2020, Sony Music Nashville announced that Marlowe had signed a recording contract with its Columbia Nashville imprint. He celebrated the signing by releasing the single "Burn 'Em All" on the same day. His career reached a major milestone in September 2021 when "Giving You Up" was officially certified Gold by the RIAA, marking his first certified success as a recording artist.
