History
Interceptor (Speed Metal Band)
Formation and Early Releases
Interceptor is an American speed metal band originating from Charleston, South Carolina. The group was formed in 2022 by bassist and vocalist Blake Arenvurst.
The band's initial output included their first demo, Thrashing Violence, released on July 23, 2022. This demo featured the title track alongside "Hatred" and "Into the Hellmouth." In February 2023, a year after their debut demo, Interceptor released their second demo, Nuclear Devastation. A compilation of these two demos, titled Demo Tapes 1 & 2 (also known as Interceptor Demo), was subsequently released.
Debut Album and Subsequent Singles
The latter half of 2023 and early 2024 saw the release of the singles "Witch’s Dance" and a new version of "Into the Hellmouth," respectively. Interceptor's debut full-length album, Tales of Mayhem, was officially released on June 22, 2024.
Following the album's release, the band undertook a successful tour to support it. On October 31, 2024, they released a new single titled "Sorceress." After navigating several lineup changes, Interceptor solidified its current formation, featuring guitarist Johnny Faiella and drummer Elijah Hicks. Blake Arenvurst also transitioned from vocalist to guitarist, with a new bassist completing the lineup.
Second Album and Touring Plans
On February 13, 2025, Interceptor announced their upcoming tour, dubbed the Metal Death American Tour. Just a week later, the band revealed details for their second studio album, Metal Death. The album was slated for release on May 9, 2025.
Regarding the new record, Interceptor commented that their previous album was a "surefire tribute," potentially acknowledging comparisons made by critics to the sound of the legendary speed metal band Venom. A single from the forthcoming album, "Fire," was released on March 26, 2025.
