Hailing from Hull, United Kingdom, The Majority were a harmony pop group who relocated to London in 1965. They secured a recording contract with Decca Records, releasing eight singles over a two-year period. Despite their efforts, the band did not achieve chart success, though their material was covered by notable artists such as The Kinks, Bee Gees, and Twice As Much.
Following their time with Decca, The Majority became the backing band for Barry Ryan. Subsequently, they moved to France, where they rebranded as Majority One. Under this new moniker, they released a series of singles exclusively for the European market, alongside a critically acclaimed album.
