Heavy Vegetable was a math pop and math rock band formed in Encinitas, California, in 1992. The group, which featured frontman Rob Crow (vocals, guitar), Eléa Tenuta (vocals), Travis Nelson (bass), and Manolo Turner (drums), is recognized for its contributions to the burgeoning math pop and math rock scenes. The band's lineup remained consistent throughout its existence, concluding in 1995.

The band quickly began releasing material, with their first work, a four-track demo titled "A Bunch of Stuff," appearing in 1993. These songs would later be reissued. Towards the end of 1993, Heavy Vegetable released a split 7" with the band Powerdresser. This led to attention from Headhunter Records, who signed the band in 1994. Their debut full-length album, "The Amazing Undersea Adventures of Aqua Kitty and Friends," was released on May 13, 1994.
