History
Youth Code
Youth Code is an American electronic music duo formed in Los Angeles, California, in 2012. The group consists of Ryan William George and Sara Taylor, who craft a sound characterized by raw, industrial electronics infused with elements of hardcore and early industrial music. Their music blends intense sonic aggression with underlying danceable rhythms, creating a powerful and distinctive auditory experience.
Musical Style and Influences
Drawing inspiration from the industrial soundscapes of labels like Wax Trax! Records and the aggressive energy of hardcore music, Youth Code utilizes an all-hardware setup for their performances. This approach contributes to their uncompromising and potent sound, often described as a "sonic fury."
Career Highlights and Releases
Since their formation, Youth Code has gained recognition for their impactful releases and live performances. They were notably the first band outside of Psychic TV to release music on PTV's own label, Angry Love Productions. Their debut full-length album, the self-titled Youth Code, was released on Dais Records.
In 2014, Dais Records released the EP A Place to Stand, featuring original tracks and remixes from notable artists such as Sanford Parker, Clipping., God Module, and Silent Servant. The same year, Youth Code embarked on the North American Eye vs Spy tour, supporting Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, and Haujobb.
Further touring included the "Down the Sociopath" US tour with Skinny Puppy in late 2015. A single, "Anagnorisis," was released in November 2015, followed by their second LP, Commitment to Complications, on Dais Records in April 2016.
