Sir Robert Bryson Hall II (born January 22, 1990), known professionally as Logic, is an American rapper, producer, and author. He was raised in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and developed a passion for music as a teenager. Logic began his musical journey in 2009, releasing his debut mixtape, Logic: The Mixtape, under the pseudonym "Psychological." He followed this with Young, Broke & Infamous in 2010. After signing with Visionary Music Group, he released three more mixtapes over the subsequent three years.

Early Career and Breakthrough

His fourth mixtape, Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever, garnered critical acclaim and led to a recording contract with Def Jam Recordings. Logic's debut studio album, Under Pressure, was released in October 2014. It debuted at number four on the U.S. Billboard 200, eventually earning a gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and selling over 171,000 copies. His second studio album, The Incredible True Story, followed in November 2015, receiving generally positive reviews and also achieving gold status in the U.S. with sales exceeding 185,000 copies. In 2016, Logic released his fifth mixtape, Bobby Tarantino.

Commercial Success and Charting Singles

Logic's third studio album, Everybody, marked his first number-one debut in the U.S., selling 247,000 album-equivalent units, including 196,000 pure album sales. The album featured his first international top 10 single as a lead artist, "1-800-273-8255," which reached the top three on the Billboard Hot 100.

In 2018, Logic released the single "44 More" on February 23, a sequel to "44 Bars" from the Bobby Tarantino mixtape. The song peaked at number 22 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. His next single, "Overnight," was released on February 27, followed by "Everyday" with Marshmello on March 2. On March 7, Logic announced his sixth mixtape, Bobby Tarantino II, through a promotional video featuring characters from the Adult Swim series Rick and Morty. Released on March 9, 2018, the mixtape included collaborations with 2 Chainz, Big Sean, and Wiz Khalifa. Later that month, on March 30, he was featured in the premiere episode of Netflix's documentary series, Rapture.

Further Albums and Literary Endeavors

Logic released his fourth studio album, YSIV, on September 28, 2018. Prior to its release, he issued three singles: "One Day" featuring Ryan Tedder, "The Return," and "Everybody Dies." The album notably includes the track "Wu Tang Forever," featuring all surviving members of the Wu-Tang Clan.

On March 16, 2019, Logic released his debut novel, Supermarket, through Simon and Schuster, a project he had previously teased on the cover of his 2016 mixtape Bobby Tarantino. The novel was accompanied by his fifth studio album, which explored an experimental sound with less rap and more classic rock and indie influences. Logic has since announced plans to write two more novels, one with a science fiction theme and another centered on bank robberies.

Logic released No Pressure, his sixth and then-final studio album, on July 24, 2020. He announced the album on July 16, simultaneously stating his intention to retire from music to focus on fatherhood. The album comprises fifteen tracks with a total runtime of 59 minutes and 48 seconds. This release followed the announcement of Logic's multi-million dollar deal with Twitch.

Return to Music and Recent Projects

Logic returned to music and released his seventh mixtape, Bobby Tarantino III, on July 30, 2021, following the release of several singles and his June 2021 announcement of his comeback.

In 2022, Logic released several promotional singles for his eighth and final studio album under Def Jam Recordings, titled Vinyl Days. The album received generally positive feedback and surprised many listeners who had been critical of his earlier work.

After releasing four beat tapes under the alias Peanuts, Logic announced his ninth studio album, College Park, which was released on February 24, 2023. The record reflects on his rise in Maryland and his journey to stardom, featuring contributions from close friends.

Logic also formed a rap duo named halfBREED with his longtime friend C Dot Castro. The pair released their 3P EP on April 11, 2023.

On August 9, 2024, Logic released his highly anticipated ninth studio album, Ultra 85, which was met with positive reception from both audiences and critics.
