Biography Anna Phoebe

Anna Phoebe is a virtuoso violinist born in Germany of a German mother and an Irish/Greek father. On moving to the UK at an early age, she was educated in Scotland. Anna learned the violin as a child and was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland. Following school, she went on to study Economics and Politics at the world-renowned London School of Economics. After graduation, she determined to follow a career as an independent violinist playing a wide range of musical styles. Besides playing, she composes and has released her own "albumette", Gypsy, in 2006, a somewhat ecelectic mix of self-penned tunes with rock, celtic folk, middle-eastern and Indian influences.

For the last four years, Anna has performed as with the the Trans Siberian Orchestra (TSO), latterly as their "string mistress" responsible for the arrangement and fronting of the annual tour in the two months period leading up to Christmas and New Year. TSO specialises in large-scale stadium shows involving pyrotechnics themed round a rock-classical crossover version of Christmas themed rock featuring electric instruments and a choir.

Anna also plays as guest violinist with Oi Va Voi and the somewhat grizzled Jethro Tull, who return the compliment by featuring her music at shows where she appears.

At the time of writing, in 2008, Anna is working on a joint recording project of passionate, Latin-derived music with the Flamenco guitarist Byron Johnston. She is also recording a project with a Dutch goth-band. Anna plays both tradition 4-string acoustic violin and a specially made custom 6-string electric Violectra in Cadillac pink, the latter reserved for rock-violin performances.

Besides performance with TSO, Oi Va Voi, Jethro Tull and Byron Johnston, Anna has her own busy schedule of independent performances, including a number for prestigious commercial and private clients.
