Биография Jesper Bodilsen

Danish bass player, composer and educator born January 5th 1970 in Haslev, Denmark. Played his first professional gig when he was 16 years old and was admitted at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark in 1991. There he stayed for 5 years and ended up with a Diploma degree in June 1997.

In August 1997 he was hired to teach at the academy.

He has recieved The Memorial Bursary of Edward Eriksen and the Django d'Or Prize as performer of the year 2004.

He has worked with several well known musicians such as:

Joe Lovano, Ed Thigpen, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Lee Konitz, Marc Turner, Enrico Rava, Gino Vanelli, Phil Woods, Tom Harrell, Joey Calderazzo, Dino Saluzzi, Jimmy Heath, Benny Golson, James Moody, Horace Parlan, Duke Jordan, John Abercrombie, Paul Vertigo, Aldo Romano, Stefano di Batista and Paulo Fresu.

Jesper Bodilsen has recorded more than 100 albums with various artists and several of them have been nominated for different music awards. 2 of the albums was recorded together with the trio with Stefano Bollani and Morten Lund and now a new album STONE IN THE WATER is released on the highly estimated ECM label.
