History
Rise To Remain are a London-based 5 piece melodic metalcore band. They were formed in late 2006/early 2007 by Ben Tovey, Will Homer and Austin Dickinson under the name “Halide” as a side project to several of the band’s members other endeavors in music. Within a few months the band solidified their line-up and began playing local shows as well as travelling across the UK, seeking out shows. Halide recorded two EP’s, both of which saw a viral release through their Myspace, which eventually garnered attention from more legitimate local promoters, who granted the band further exposure by putting the band on at slightly higher profile shows, namely with Biomechanical and other local heavyweights such as Eternal Lord and Exit Ten. After DIY touring and supporting their peers in bands such as Viatrophy, Sylosis, Anterior and Malefice, Halide were offered the opening slot on the third stage of the Download Festival at Donington Park. This opportunity lead to the band changing members and their name, switching from Halide, to Rise To Remain. Since then the band has been at its most active, and have toured with the likes of Shadows Fall, Five Finger Death Punch, The Haunted and Trivium, as well as appearing at Sonisphere Festival and Download Festival. On 14 June 2010, Rise to Remain were given the Metal Hammer Golden God Award, for “Best New Band, an award that was voted for by over 400,000 people across the globe.”[1] The band are due to start recording their debut album on July 5th 2010 with a TBA producer. The band has also been voted in to the shortlist for “Best British Newcomer” at the Kerrang! Awards. Recently signed to EMI and with their debut album 'The City of Vultures' was released in September with a UK headline tour then.
On 6 January 2012, bassist Joe Copcutt and drummer Pat Lundy announced their departure from the band, made public by the Rocksound and Blabbermouth websites. Consequently, the band have pulled out from the US Machine Head tour[3] . The US release of City of Vultures has been pushed back to June 5 2012, when the band hope to tour the US. The new line-up has just been announced Joshua Hammond (bass) and drummer Adam Lewin have joined the band. Now Josh Hammond has departed to be replaced by Conor O'Keefe.
