History Pistol George Warren
Pistol George Warren is a retro-pop party-on-a-stage that has become known across the country for their contagious live show. Named one of the top 25 bands to catch at, as well as one of the highlights from, 2014's NXNE festival and conference by blogTO, the band will continue to make strides on the national scene with their upcoming LP Oceapur 9.
Four Matt’s and two other guys got together in their hometown of Sudbury to start jamming together and found incredible chemistry both in songwriting and performance. Within the first year, the band had released one full-length album (Back to Northern Country, 2011) and one EP (Thanks for Hoots, 2011), played to sold-out crowds at the Townehouse Tavern, and performed industry showcases at both NXNE and the Folk Music Ontario conference.
For a special festival performance at the Northern Lights Festival Boreal, the band enlisted the help of friends and backup singers who’d appeared on previous PGW recordings. Almost immediately, it became clear that the band had just gained three more permanent members.
Since that time, Pistol George Warren has released one additional full-length album (Mindemoya, 2012) and another EP (Hoots Deuce, 2013), toured the country a number of times and made big impressions on many fans and members of the Canadian music industry.
The members are long-time friends, and their on-stage charisma has attracted much acclaim from fans and media alike.
Pistol George Warren will gather their collection of twangers, bangers, singers, and wailers for a string of tour dates this summer, to further disseminate the secrets of their newest full length album Oceapur 9 -- released on June 23, 2015.
