History Homelake

Alternative countryrock/americana from Hemsjö, Sweden.

The idea of Homelake was born in the autumn of 2003. After moving out to the countryside, David Fredriksson Nygård wrote a couple of songs that didn't fit in the rockband where he was singing at that time. So he formed a some kind of solo project who he decided to call Homelake. Homelake, Hemsjö in swedish, is the name of the village where he lives. The idea of Homelake is to make minimalistic and very direct music. He doesn't want to use anything more than it takes and needs to catch a feeling.

In the summer of 2004, Homelake recorded two EP's, Countrygirl and Salvation. The songs were recorded live in his house with only one condenser microphone. Basic mixes were made afterwards. His bandmates in December's Children played on the recordings, and his cousin Emma sang many of the harmonies.

Most of the songs are about his old relatives who lived in Hemsjö before he did.

Four new songs were recorded in 2008. The new EP, Summer Turns to Fall will be released in the beginning of 2009, but you can listen to it for free on the band's last.fm page.
