History Carnaval

Carnaval is a stoner rock band from Ljubljana, Slovenia established in 2004. Their sound is primarily based in stoner rock genre but also falls into categories of stoner metal, alternative rock and alternative metal as well.

In 2003, after the slow breakup of the band Pussyfinger, the former members of this band Azo Vokal (vocals, guitar) and Matej Šetinc (drums) decided to form their own group. They started creating new arrangements, and after a few months, in February 2004, Jan Kozlevčar joined them, initially on bass guitar (later also played and recorded drums and guitar). At that time, the group under the name Pinocchio Pinchball was also officially founded.

In 2004, still under their original name, Pinocchio Pinchball released the demo "Knez Atula", a year later they received an invitation to participate in the compilation "Burn the Street Vol. 5", published by the German label Daredevil Records.

A second demo titled "Slap in Your Face" was released shortly after, already under the name Carnaval. In 2007, they took part in the Radio Študent's "Klubski maraton". The first full-length record titled 2 was released two years later.

The long-awaited debut album 1, which was already recorded in 2007, was released in 2010. At the beginning of 2012, they released their third album, Tennis Football Basketball, which brought approval from both domestic and foreign reviewers.

In the spring of 2016, the Big Fish (EP) was released, and later that year a fourth album entitled Miss Universe was released on Kapa Records (CD release) and Cosmic Eye Records (vinyl record).

The band went on a hiatus in 2019.

Musicians that were part of the band include Jan Kozlevčar, on bass, guitars and drums, Azo Vokal on vocals and guitars, Matej Šetinc on drums, Jernej Kržič on bass, Peter Cimprič "Sacco Di Tempo" on bass, Vitja Balžalorsky on guitars.
