Biography Grzegorz Ciechowski

Grzegorz Ciechowski (b. August 29, 1957, Tczew - d. Dec. 22, 2001, Warsaw) - Polish rock musician and film music composer.

He was the frontman and composer of one of the most popular Polish rock bands Republika, which was active from 1981 to 2001. Author of Republika's biggest hits, such as Biała flaga ("White Flag"), Telefony ("Telephones").

Ciechowski also composed for other artists such as Kasia Kowalska and Justyna Steczkowska. He composed scores for the films "Stan Strachu" ("State of fear") by Janusz Kijowski and "Wiedźmin" ("The Witcher") by Marek Brodzki; for this work he received the Polish Film Award in 2001. Additionally, he wrote music for the German television show "Castle Pompon Rouge".

Ciechowski died in December 2001 due to open heart surgery complications.
